Saving made easier with company collaboration
FORRES Area Credit Union was delighted to recently welcome AJ Engineering to their ‘Workplace Savings’ scheme.
The scheme allows all employees a chance to join with £1 and have savings taken from their wages each payday so that there is a ‘nest egg’ built up for the future.
General manager, Graham Alexander invited volunteers from the Credit Union to speak with staff to get the ball rolling.
Heather Shaw, a Credit Union volunteer explained the benefits: “The savings and loans co-operative has been running since the mid 90s and is now making it easier for people to save via their employer where it benefits everyone. It takes the stress out of the costs of that unexpected bill, the festive season or can allow for planning that much needed holiday. Employers can support their staff to join and see them being more productive with less absenteeism if the worries of potential debts are not affecting them. That all adds to a happier workplace.”
Already in its first year of operating from our new premises on Forres High Street, 195 people have joined showing that the ‘best kept secret’ is now getting out to the community. The service is also expanding a similar scheme within the local schools.
Heather added: “This new opportunity working with employers is a great boost for us as the regular agreed amounts from pay packets are not missed and go directly into the customer’s account.
“This has been a long time in the planning, so we are excited about AJ Engineering being our first local employer to join the Workplace Savings Scheme. We sincerely hope the first of many.”
