Structure complete on new £1.8m pharmacy warehouse

The structure for a new £1.8m warehouse for a pharmaceutical company is now erected with the cladding work scheduled to take place this month until April.

BASF Pharma (Callanish) Ltd is expanding its facility with support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) which has invested up to £1.8m to create the new warehouse at Breasclete on the Isle of Lewis.

The project is being led by James Attridge with AJE being awarded the contract by Stornoway-based Lewis Builders.

The site before the construction began

The new 550 sq m facility at the site where BASF Pharma (Callanish) Ltd occupies a factory which is owned by HIE will provide much needed storage capacity to support BASF Pharma’s growth plans.

James said: “We are making great headway with this project, despite it being remote and at what could potentially be a tricky time of year. The structure is looking great and we are now getting ready to carry out the cladding. Everything is going ahead on schedule, and it is expected that we will have a team of four cladders on site from early February, with the cladding expected to be complete by April at the latest.”
