Apprenticeship Week not new for AJE
March 4-8 marks Scottish Apprenticeship Week which is a nationwide celebration of apprenticeships.
However, AJ Engineering has been holding apprenticeships in high esteem since the company was founded and it’s no stranger to taking on apprentices.
Alan James, is himself a time served apprentice, starting out with William Reid Engineering Ltd. By the end of his time with Wm Reid’s Alan was a projects director.
In 2017, the engineering and construction company became one of the first in the north to take on an engineering graduate apprentice when the scheme was first launched.
And in 2021, we told the story of former apprentice Lee Evans who worked up through the ranks to become the foreman of the then new site at Waterford.
Last month, we celebrated the achievements of Jack Lowes, who has completed a graduate apprenticeship degree in Design and Manufacturing with Robert Gordons University, finishing with a first-class honours and top of his class.
This year, Scottish Apprenticeship Week campaign aims to shows that apprenticeships give people high quality opportunities.
